The days flew by, and before I knew it we were on our last day in Hawaii. Jonghyun and I were packing up all of our belongings while listening to the beautiful noises that came from outside.
And, of course, our beautiful noise was abruptly interrupted by the ringing of Jonghyun’s cellphone.
“Hello?” he said into the speaker.
I continued packing as he talked. His responses became very worried, and by the time he ended the call, he was pacing rapidly.
“What is it?” I asked him.
“That was Minho. Apparently the paparazzi found out where we’re staying and released the address on the internet,” he said.
My eyes widened as the terrifying outcome became clear to me.
“Oh dear goodness…” I muttered.
Jonghyun nodded.
“Brace yourself. The fangirls are coming,” he said.
We hurriedly packed the rest of our belongings and checked out of the hotel. Jonghyun called for a taxi, but the taxi didn’t arrive for another ten minutes. When it did arrive, we sprinted to it. Just as we closed the doors of the taxi, we saw a large mob of fangirls and Korean press turn the corner far down the street.
“STEP ON IT!” Jonghyun yelled to the driver.
The driver did as he was told, and we quickly sped away from the hotel. I held Jonghyun’s hand tightly in fear of crashing and dying. We arrived at the airport and went through security in only five minutes. Then we ran to the plane and took off only ten minutes later, just as the distant screams made their way to the airport where we had been moments before.
“We made it,” Jonghyun said as he sighed with relief.
I slumped in my seat next to him and breathed deeply. We sat in silence for the next hour, resting and catching our breath. The silence wasn’t awkward – it was peaceful. Eventually, I spoke up.
“I’m going to really miss Hawaii,” I sighed.
“Me too. But we can always come back,” Jonghyun replied.
“Really?” I asked as I abruptly turned to face him with excitement.
Jonghyun nodded, and I threw my arms around him. He chuckled as he pressed his lips to the top of my head.
For the rest of the plane ride, I watched TV and movies, talked to Jonghyun, and slept. Finally, the captain’s voice came over the speakers.
“Mister and Missus Kim, we thank you for flying with us today. The time in Seoul is 4:47PM with a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius. We will be arriving in Seoul shortly, so please buckle your seatbelts and put your trays in an upright position. Thank you, and have a nice day,” he said.
The plane began to descend minutes later, and we landed soon after. Jonghyun took my hand and led me off the plane. As we entered the airport, we saw hundreds of girls (and quite a few boys) holding up signs and screaming. The signs read “Congratulations Jonghyun and Secret Lover,” “Treat Our Oppa Well,” and “Please Have a Wonderful Marriage.” Jonghyun put his arm around me and escorted me through the crowd. When we got to the parking lot, we found his corvette and drove off. Our luggage had been loaded into our car for us already, but I still had a nagging feeling that I forgot something.
Then I remembered.
“Oh my gosh, I don’t have my house key!” I panicked.
“You don’t have on yet,” Jonghyun replied calmly.
I had forgotten that I was going home with him. Not to my parents’ house, his dorm, or my old apartment – we were going to our NEW home. Based on the route we were taking, I assumed we weren’t moving to the countryside. We passed my old apartment building as well as his old dorm, and entered the heart of the Gangnam district. My eyes widened as we turned into the parking lot of an apartment building that seemed worthy of only the most elite people.
“What do you think?” Jonghyun asked as he parked.
“I’m not good enough for this place,” I murmured, mesmerized.
Jonghyun laughed and patted my head.
“It’s close to our friends, and big enough to support a family,” he continued.
“It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
“I’ve seen one thing that’s more beautiful.”
I turned to look at him and blushed.
“This car,” he finished.
We laughed as I punched him in the arm, and he helped me out of the car. Hand-in-hand, we walked to the building as the attendants grabbed our luggage and took it to our apartment. As we arrived on the sixteenth floor, I wondered what the apartment would look like on the inside. Jonghyun took out his key and unlocked the door.
Behind the door was a stunningly large apartment with white walls and a huge balcony that could be seen from the doorway. The dooray was a little narrow, but had a large closet on the left side of it. I walked into what looked like a living room (there was my old black faux-leather couch and new a flat-screen TV), and to my left was another small hallway. The living room also contained the doorway to both the kitchen (which was beside the closet, so it was behind me) and a bedroom. Down the hallway were another bedroom, a laundry room, and a washroom.
“Do you like it?” Jonghyun asked as he caught up to me in the laundry room.
“Yeah, it’s amazing! But where’re the furniture and packed boxes?” I asked.
“I figured we could pick out new furniture rather than taking our old furniture. We can keep some our old furniture, though.”
“So I’m guessing you’re keeping my old couch?” I asked, gesturing toward my old couch in the living room.
“Yeah. We have some good memories surrounding that couch.”
“What about our bedroom? Where’s that?”
Jonghyun smirked and led me to the room that was attached to the living room. He threw open the door and revealed a giant room with a king-sized bed in the center. There was a bathroom attached to it, and a flat-screen across form the bed.
“Holy crap…” I whispered.
Jonghyun then picked me up honeymoon-style and tossed me on the bed. It was so springy and comfy, it was perfect.
“Feel how bouncy it is! It’s like a trampoline,” he said giddily.
I tested his trampoline theory by jumping up and down on the bed, and Jonghyun joined me. It was as if we were children again, laughing the whole time. Soon after, my stomach growled.
“My bride is hungry! I must feed her,” he said as he jumped off the bed.
I jumped off as well, and then climbed on his back.
“Your bride is also tired. Can you carry her?” I asked.
“Of course. Hang on tight.”
He ran out the door and took me with him. He grabbed his wallet and keys and put sandals on my feet for me. Then he took us out of the apartment and we entered the elevator.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“To find food. There’s no food in the house yet. The housekeeper wasn’t expecting us to be back today,” he answered.
“Housekeeper?”
“Yeah, I hired a housekeeper so you don’t have to do housework and so you can come with me to my events.”
“Can I look after the house sometimes?”
“You WANT to look after the house?”
“Yeah, especially when we have kids. I’d like to be a stay-at-home mom so I can watch them grow and learn instead of only seeing them after work.”
“I guess, if that’s what you really want.”
“I want to be able to support you from home, too. I really like cooking and I don’t mind cleaning.”
“You are so strange,” Jonghyun laughed.
“I know,” I said, smiling before I kissed his cheek.
The elevator arrived on the main floor and Jonghyun took me out to the lobby. As we walked to the door, we passed two men coming in. They waved at Jonghyun and he waved back, and I suddenly recognized them
“OPPA,” I hissed.
Jonghyun turned his head to show he was listening.
“W-werent those guys Ch-Changmin and Y-Y-Yunho from TVXQ?” I asked.
Jonghyun laughed and turned around.
“Changmin! Yunho!” he called, motioning them back to us.
“What is it, Jonghyun?” Yunho asked.
“I forgot to formally introduce you to my wife.”
We had invited the two to our wedding, however they couldn’t attend because they were promoting in Japan. The boys looked at me and smiled as they bowed politely. I bowed as much as I could without falling off Jonghyun’s back.
“It’s lovely to meet you, Yun,” Changmin said.
“Likewise,” I replied.
“So you two moved here, too?” Yunho asked Jonghyun.
“Yeah, we live on the sixteenth floor,” Jonghyun answered.
“We live on the fourteenth.”
“I guess we’re neighbours then…kind of,” I said cheerfully.
“I guess so. We should hang out some time,” Changmin said.
“Sure, we’d love to!” I smiled.
“Well, it was nice seeing you two. We have to get dinner now, so we’ll see you later,” Jonghyun said.
“Alright, see you later. It was lovely meeting you, Yun,” Yunho said as the two boys left.
“They’re so nice in person,” I sighed happily.
“They really are. Now let’s go get you some food,” Jonghyun replied, carrying me on his back out the door.
